CLAIMS - WHY WE ARE REALLY UNIQUE HERE

When the floods hit Britain in 2007 and 2008 we were literally on call around the clock to 'get things moving' with the insurers as quickly as possible. Indeed, (and we make absolutely no excuses for this), queue jumping was the key to getting our clients the best possible service in their time of need.

Despite thankfully not suffering widespread flooding this year in the UK (well, so far anyway!), we have still dealt with losses which serve to highlight just how different we feel we are as a broker when it comes to claims. Our level of expertise is second to none on the claims front.

For example, one of our clients suffered a major fire (circa £500,000) and an issue arose due to the fact that VAT had not been added to the property reinstatement valuation. The client was not VAT registered and therefore could not recover this from Customs and Excise. This meant, potentially, that the property was underinsured (albeit that total new builds are zero VAT rated). However, under our branded policy wording we had already anticipated such and had, as a matter of course, arranged for the insurers to ignore this issue so that VAT is not taken into account (for the purposes of applying average) when setting the sum insured. The result? The claim was paid in full.

Another client recently suffered a fire at their property which could possibly lead to it being totally demolished. The reserve for this loss has been set at £4 million. Both our Claims Manager and Deputy Claims Manager attended site to review the damage for themselves and to ensure that the Loss Adjuster and surveyors were doing everything that they could to progress matters as quickly as possible. They then discuss the progress of the case regularly with one of our Partners/Directors, Simon Taylor, a qualified Chartered Loss Adjuster. This 'hands on' approach has been absolutely vital. We will never interfere unnecessarily but we will always be there to assist whenever you really need it.

Finally one of our new clients had a major issue with their insurer regarding not only getting a legitimate claim paid but also ensuring that the cover continued. His previous brokers had been of no assistance to him whatsoever. As a result the client was rightly very worried. We took on the client and their problems, went right to the very top of the insurer's organisation, and through a series of high level meetings resolved all of the issues for him. The claim was paid and cover was renewed with the same company. One of our many strengths is the relationships that we have with our insurer partners - they are literally unbeatable in the broking market. Now, as a client of Reich, this client will never have to go through such an ordeal ever again.

Service is key to the Reich philosophy. If you are unfortunate to suffer a loss, we will be with you all the way, of that you can be absolutely certain.
